The Grid

First step, review the space and consider the following: Is there adequate lighting? Is there furniture to plan around? How large of an area do you have to work with? Don’t forget the value of negative space—a more open area around a smaller photo will draw attention to detail while giving larger items room. Pro tip: Measure out the wall area, then lay out your wall art on the floor or table first to play with options.

Our creative director likes to use butcher paper and trace each piece onto the paper. How-to: Simply tape the paper to your wall and use a pen or pencil to indicate where your hook will hang and use as a guide. Then you can remove the paper and easily hang your pieces.

Always confirm you have the proper hooks to support the weight of the artwork you'll be hanging.

The Character

Art, like life, is beautiful in its individuality. Celebrate it! Mix warm wood and metal frames with canvases, wall sculptures, and small shelves. This not only shows off your pieces at their best, it will enrich your entire space.

Don’t be afraid to mix shapes, vertical and horizontal items—a good mix keeps your space interesting and feeling curated. Pro tip: Anchor the wall with one larger item, then plan around it.
